Mechanical/Glass: Design & Fabrication Facility supports academic research through consultation, engineering, manufacturing, design, and repairs. Within the facility, there are complete departments for working with glass, metal, plastics, and other materials. Skilled technicians design, fabricate, or repair complex mechanical instruments and glassware, and carry out jobs in precision machining, MIG and TIG welding, woodworking, sheet metal, and plexiglass fabrication.

Scientific Glassblowing

Glassblowing services are carried out from the Yale University Glass Shop. The drop-off location for all scientific glassware repairs will be on the large metal shelf across from the machine shop (room R006) in the Chemistry building.

Prototype Development

On request, assistance can be provided for prototype development.  Custom and specialized equipment can be manufactured.

Repairs

Repairs can be made to complex scientific and mechanical equipment, including diffusion pumps, McLeod Gauges, Nitrogen Cryogenic Dewars, vacuum systems, and distillation equipment.
